On Monday 31stAugust 2009, we’re watching Mountain Patrol: Kekexili (part of our coursework) it is a story about Patrolmen lead by Ri Tai haunting for illegal poachers killing antelope for their pelts. The patrolmen were join by Ga Yu a journalist from Beijing that suggest his work can help preserve the Tibetan antelope. But in the middle, the haunting for poachers end when a gunshot is fired and kill one of the patrolmen driver’s, Ri Tai vows to track down the killer. In the end Ri Tai was killed.
I admitted that I’m not a kind of person doing that kind of job, seriously. After I watched the movie, I was shocked to see that this film has some harsh scene but never mind beside that harsh scene there is a lot of moral in this movie. The environment is fantastic… with hilly scenery, iced plateau, beautiful mountain and chill cold weather consolation my heart beat.
The society was highly spirited even cooperate with their own enemy (pushing the truck scene), togetherness and strict but still honoring each other’s (it’s their culture). One of the inhuman traditions is feeding the vultures with dead body and don’t ask me why…
Strong brotherly bond between patrolmen and their love for their homeland is part of their practices. Economy, well, because of poor and hardship and slightly behind modernize is likely very poor in economy, it’s hard to find a job and money beside of doing agricultural. Another way to survive is corruption (by selling pelts).
The legal system is too weak but they have to obey the government policy even though they didn’t get their salary for almost a year, they even didn’t register to the government for this job. Wow, I can’t even imagine it if I didn’t get paid for a month but it’s their life they have to get through with it.
In conclusion, the moral of the story is stay together no matter what or you will lost everything and get eaten by vultures, it is way of life or should I say the hashes way of life…
Did I tell you Ga Yu succeed to assure the Chinese government to declared Kekexili as a national nature preserve and later established the Forest Public Security Bureau to protect it…?
